A few weeks ago I made 2 sets of customised covers for 2 Dutch ladies. I do not always have time for custom orders. This also depends on the extent of the changes I have to make to an existing product. To resize a laptopbag for example (which is made out of one piece of felt) I need to adjust the total pattern. Very time consuming! For creative combinations of existing colours, I often do have the time!
The first custom set of cases was a light grey party for Macbook, Ipad and Iphone, with leather closures and initials. The design of the iphone wallet was taken from the slim iphone wallet - the leather outer was replaced with a grey felt one to match the other covers. This kind of requests is a challenge for me: will the outcome match with the idea and design in my customers mind? Luckily for both of us: yes! Customer wrote to me saying she was very happy with the covers.
Sorry about the crappy pictures - this always happen when I am in a hurry :)
And then a request for a blue and grey set of covers followed. Honestly, at first I was a bit sceptical about the colourcombinations. I was happy the result, in tempered brights. The inspiration for the iphone wallet was the grey one shown above. As this set was purchased through Etsy, my customer wrote a very nice review/feedback on Etsy about this. It is in Dutch:
( I am not translating, I am just saying this feedback made me smile :)
"Ik ben heel erg blij met mijn iPhone 3 en iPad Mini hoezen. Ze zijn stevig, handig in gebruik en zien er bovendien prachtig uit. Elke keer dat ik mijn iPhone 3 hoes tevoorschijn haal, staren er mensen naar. Het contact met de maker verliep soepel en de hoezen werden opgestuurd in een mooie verpakking. Ik had de hoezen na mijn bestelling ook snel in mijn bezit. Ik kan deze winkel zeker aanraden! "
So .. this was a glimpse into my world of making things for people - real people ! Or: The importance of feedback. Big or small, one word or 100. It helpds me to make better products and provide even better services. Thank you!
